Lab Discussion Questions:

1. What state were all the metals at room temperature?

2. State two other qualitative obersvations that describe the characteristic of the metals you interacted with in the lab.

3. What state was hydrogen in this lab? What did it look like?

4. Why did you hear a popping sound when you put the flame in the large testube?

5. What family does lithium (Li) and sodium (Na) belong too? Why were they so much more reactive in water then the Zinc (Zn) in water?

6. Look at the Bohr model notes in the moodle and create a Bohr model for Magnesium (Mg).

7. What type of reaction occured between the Chlorine (Cl) and the Magnesium (Mg)? Ionic or Covalent? and explain the difference between the two types of reactions.

9. Using the moodle 2.5 notes, what would the molecule of MgCl2 be called?
