A Useful Document
Dear Parents,
I am excited to be teaching with your children this year. Please take a moment to briefly get to know me on my about me page. Moreover, don't hesitate to get in touch with me via the contact form on the about me page.
I aim to guide your children to new ideas and the wonders of the natural world. We will study the biology, chemistry and physics of things observed by our eye, touched by our fingers and heard by our ears. Moreover, we will help your kids further develop their critical thinking and problem solving skills related to their observations and ideas.
Please be aware, parents of Grade 8 Science, that we will be using Fresh Grade to document student progress via picture, video and text. Due to the breadth of the applications available on Fresh Grade and the limited time we have together, we will ONLY be using FreshGrade as a portfolio tool. The purpose of this tool is to allow students to connect to their work and progress and for you, their parents to be connected to the classroom. You will have access to student portfolios through an email account you have registered. You will have to be invited to create an account by me in order to view your childs growth and learning. Please provide me an email contact that you would like to use for your Fresh Grade registration.
With regards to security and privacy implications of online documentation using Fresh Grade, please be aware that data will be stored in Kelowna, BC and is subject to BC privacy laws. Moreover, the Surrey School District has approved the use of this online application and has reviewed the privacy policies and have deemed them fit for the classroom. If you have more questions please don't hesitate to ask and I will do my best to provide you with relevent information.
My goal this semester is to bring a fluidity between the different learning environments that your children will be exposed to, including the home and the classroom. Let's work together to ensure your child will have a successful and positive semester!
